Visit to John Keel's Grave

While in Flint and so close to John's grave, the "John Keel Recipients" decided to get together and drive to the cemetery. Ann Keel greeted us literally, with open arms. We had a great visit looking at John's cars and a visit to his grave. We extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to Ann for having us. Ron Devies was the missing member but while taking a group photo Ron called Sarah at that exact moment so we felt he was with us in spirit. We all visited a closed funeral home on our way up and aas I'm told, "This is exactly what John would do".

We had a great road trip up to visit John's grave. It was very nice to be able to spend some time with Ann Keel as well.
As we visited the abandoned funeral home, we could certainly imagine John with his video camera, recording every minute of it. Now, we have Richard to do that.

John is still influencing PCS members more than 7 years after his death.
 
You got a video! I will have to watch it when I get home. I tried to make a video of the first floor, but it didn't work.

This trip was such a John thing to do. He would have loved it.
 
I'm glad that everyone had a good time at the Micro Meet, and were able to visit John's grave. I remember him fondly, with a special memory of him filming cars as they left the Gilmore Museum when we held the meet in Grand Rapids. His ability to rattle off specific years, models, descriptions of procars still boggles my mind.

I'm sorry that we were not able to make it up to Flint this year, but I'm glad everyone had a good time. This would also be an appropriate time to once again thank Kim & Brady (I know she worked every bit as hard as he did) for the spectacular time we had at Flint PCS last summer.

On a slightly different subject, my '60 Eureka hearse has a brand new paint job, but unfortunately the wrong shade of green. Too dark. Long story, but I was foolish to take the word of the painter, who said he had the paint match "perfect" and that I didn't need to approve it. WRONG! Please don't any of you make the same mistake. He's in the process of repainting to the correct color right now.

I have also decided to pull and rebuild the engine of my '39 Eureka LaSalle carved hearse. It probably doesn't really need it, but I want it fully dependable, so a rebuild will make me feel better. *smile* Tom
