Procars at Shook Funeral Home Show

Last Sunday, we attended the Shook Funeral Home Car Show, run by PCS members Roy and Nancy Garretson. This was their best show to date, with fifty three cars and trucks in attendance. There were professional cars of all descriptions, too. I thought you might like to see what professional cars were there, so enjoy!

Wow! Thanks for the post. There were some nice cars there. That National-Chevrolet is a rare beauty. What can you tell us about that? Got any more photos of it?

Can't make out the state but the license plate on the front of the National says VPFH. I'm guessing funeral home owned.

Did you happen to get any posed shots of the National?

The National Chevy combination belongs to VanderPlatt Funeral Home of Wyckoff, NJ. It is spectacular and it was a product of a total restoration. Regretfully, these are the only pictures I got, the next thing I knew, the car left way early.

Looks like it still is; a photo album is on top of the attendant seat. (I've seen these cars with one or two attendant seats over the years.)

Not up on national especially these years. But with out any provision for the gurney and fixed rollers it would look to me that they rebuilt it As a straight hearse.

Though turning it back would not be all that hard

I see the slide now. So many combo were never used for ambulance service. This looks to be one of them to me. It is a wonderful job of restoring it as a hearse which is all it was probably ever used for. It would be a great car to have. You notice the tag on the cabinets. I have never seen a national with out one in that location.
