Our friend Royce Baier lost several historic vehicles when one of his storage buildings burned this week.

This mint condition 1974 M-M/Cadillac Eterna combination--bought new by his father, Maury--was destroyed:

The Eterna was unique because of its mohair (burgundy) interior, bought to match their '63 Crown Royale Limousine combination*, which they still have. Other unusual features of this car include power windows--not available as a factory option until 1975--and a piped oxygen system. Other options on this car were an AM/FM radio, 176-D beacon, dual 250 spotlights, and a PA-20 siren.

*The window inserts seen in the photo above were from this car. Maury couldn't find the originals when I was there for the photo shoot.

So sorry to hear this sad news, especially since the second blaze should not have happened. That Eterna is a big loss. At least I'm glad to hear that his '60 C/B Buick combo wasn't one of the cars that was destroyed.

This is the sort of news that nobody wants to hear.It is even worse when you lose a family heirloom. It is very sad, but as long as no people died in the fire, you have to be thankful.

Always something in the back of your head. Fire is hard to overcome.

When I had my car lot, there were several cars lost to fire over the years. I find fire to be scary and unpredictable. Therefore, with these older cars, it is always in my head about a fire happening.
