Received the following email today... Can anyone shed light on this subject? thanks Paul

I was recently reading an article in the daily Herald newspaper about the Kennedy Ambulance and they also stated that the 59 Cadillac Ambulance used in Ghostbuster film was once owned by a ambulance co. when I was a firefighter in the MABAS 10 there was Belmont Fire Dept ( now Darien Woodridge Fire, Darien IL), whose members stated that they had auctioned off their 59 ambulance to a former member , who drove it out to Calif to be in the movie. Who is correct?

I can shed some light on this one. The person is referring to TPC article "Two famous Miller Meteors" by Walt McCall. The car, which was a Belmont Fire Dept. vehicle once owned by Ed Kenmitz [sic?] and Roger Bay. Columbia bought the car from Roger and it became the primered car that is first seen. Afterwards, it was conveted by George Barris for publicity touring to promote the movie. A man by the first name of Bob (I don't remember his last name) of Rocky River, OH currently owns the car. Below is a picture of it from the 1984 International meet (is there a higher resolution picture available?) as it appeared in the movie and the youtube video from it's attempted eBay sale in summer 2009.

At some point in the future I'd like to write an article for TPC about all 3 of the cars they used for the movies.

Good idea!

I'd love to see an article that tells a more in-depth story on the ghostbusters cars. I'd love to see a tpc featuring pro-cars in the movies.( Ghostbusters,Harold and Maude,The Ambulance, etc.) Sounds like a great idea to me!I suggest asking Walt about it and make it happen!!:)
