Default Historic Auto Attractions Visit?

In another thread, I mentioned the museum "Historic Auto Attractions" in Illinois, which features several alleged Presidential cars, movie star cars, etc., including the alleged Ford wagon ambulance that transported Lee Harvey Oswald after he was shot.

I say "alleged" because I'm not sure if all or any of the cars he has are actually what he says they are. Case in point, he says he has the "actual" Ecto-1 from "Ghostbusters", even though his is clearly a '60 Superior and not a '59 M-M.

Now, with that in mind, this place is only an hour and a half from Milwaukee. Is anyone interested in going to see this place on a day during the meet, if you're not on one of the actual tours? I'm game to see it, if for no other reason than to say I saw the alleged "Oswald Ambulance" if the topic comes up again in discussion.

Here is the website for the museum.

Interested?

That Oswald ambulance has 2 rotors I believe the actual one had lollipop flashers and if memory serves two on each side on the roof. But still looks interesting.

Unless the quarters were swapped out when that Ecto clone was fabricated, base vehicle was a '59 Superior Royale limo style. So the conversion is not only botched but the museum doesn't even advertise correct year, calling it a '60.

Remind me again which of the movie Ectomobiles had suicide doors..?

"Constructed from a 1960 Cadillac ambulance, this is the actual ECTO-1 driven by the cast in the film."

This thread reminds me of the '59 Eureka that Volo claimed at one time to be the actual movie car:

http://www.volocars.com/1959-ghostbu....mH3kbOIL.dpbs

After being called on it several times, the claim disappeared. After the Ghostbusters fracas died down, they (Volo) said that the car "may have been" the one used in "In The Heat of The Night."

None of Volo's cars are the "actual" cars that they represent. Disappointing once you know.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying about HAA. You have to take it all with a grain of salt (maybe a whole salt shaker). But I'm intrigued enough to want to see the alleged Oswald ambulance that I'll probably go, since it's relatively close, just so I have a good answer in my head about it.

Who's with me?

The Lensing museum is worth seeing, although some of the displays are not actual, some are. There are a good number of interesting cars and non automotive related displays as well.
