Mike, Pauls offer is very generous, and I know you are thinking very serious about it. But before you commit, I live closer to you and am willing to give you the same offer, but I also agree to put a full tank of gas in it when you visit.

Oh great... John is trying to undermine my generous offer of storage. OK, I will up the ante. I will do regular oil changes along with keeping the gas tank full for you. I will even air the tires as needed...

I'd love to buy that, it's very cool that one even still exists. I don't know if it's $12,500 cool for me, though, especially in "restorable" condition and clear across the country from me.

Here are a couple of others. The first one is from New York, and if you look closely, it says "Department of Hospitals" and "City of New York".

The second is indentified as from Lakewood, NJ. I can't make out what the fine print says. I suppose it's possible they are photos of the same ambulance....

Steve, the Henney Book says that most of the approx. 10 built were sent to New York, so its very possible that your pics are of 2 different cars.

If this is the car I'm thinking of, it originally served the City of Long Beach, CA. It then went to the Sana Anita Race Track in Arcadia, CA. It sat in outdoor storage for years in Glendora, CA. No one could ever nail down the owner. Last time I went by there, the area had been redeveloped.

For the price of $12,500 it should come with a title and pedigree papers. Wonder what the seller would say if you were to ask for proof of his ownership, and keep tracing it back from there. I'd hate to restore it only to have someone with a better claim of ownership show up and take it away. This has happened all to often now that old auto theft records are being digitized, and scanned into computers.. Cars reported stolen 40 years ago are suddenly starting to show up for sale.

Default Buy It!

I really can't believe people aren't fighting to get this vehicle. 1 of 12, the only one left, eligible for all the snobby tours, and it'd be the most photographed vehicle in any, ANY CCA/AACA/ Packard event. If I could, I would have this car asap.
